Ganesh Chaturthi

August 26, 2025

9 AM – 9 PM

Kailasa Seattle is delighted to invite you to the auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, which celebrates Lord Ganesha, the remover of all obstacles and one of the most beloved Hindu deities.

What is Ganesh Chaturthi?

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates Lord Ganesha, the remover of all obstacles and one of the most beloved Hindu deities worshipped in virtually every Hindu household. Ganesha’s blessings are invoked before starting any important task or project, ensuring an obstacle-free path and successful completion. His blessings are also invoked for education since he is also the God of ‘buddhi,’ or intelligence.

Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Shakti. His form is a powerful representation of cosmic intelligence. His elephant head embodies strength and gentleness.  In his upper right hand, he is holding the noose, Anushka, representing the power of unclutching from distractions. In his lower right hand, he is holding his broken tusk, representing spontaneity and sacrifice in life. In his upper left hand, he is holding the Pasha, representing control over attachments. In his lower left hand, he is holding the sweet Modaka, reminding us that with these qualities, life becomes sweet.

Ganesh Chaturthi features singing, dancing, vivid colors, and sweets. Clay Ganeshas are also made and submerged in water at the end of the festival. Your participation in this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi will not only enrich your own spiritual journey but also contribute to the collective energy of the community. Let us come together to celebrate Lord Ganesha through our love and devotion.
